Dear Players, Parents & Coaches;
We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Face-Off Development Day in Nashville, TN. The clinic will take place at Montgomery Bell Academy on August 28th from 1:00PM-3:00PM. All-Access will take place from 3:00-4:00PM.
Face-off training will be led by Coaches Joe Nardella and TD Ierlan. Nardella is the current Faceoff Specialist for the PLL Whipsnakes and Defender for the Albany Firewolves. Nardella currently ranks #2 in all categories in the PLL and has established himself as a top 2 Faceoff Athlete in the world. Nardella is a 2X PLL Champion and lead all Faceoff Athletes in every category at the Faceoff Stripe in the 2020 PLL Championship Series. Joe finished with an outstanding 74% at the X, this was 10% higher than the next Faceoff Athlete. In the 2019 season, Joe finished top 2 in every category and #1 in ground balls. Coach Nardella was a standout at Rutgers University where he was named an All-American, an Academic All-American, Big Ten Specialist of the Year, 3x All Conference, and ranked top 5 in the nation in FO win % 3 years in a row. Coach Nardella is also 2X MLL All-Star and Team USA Lacrosse member. Lastly, Joe notched 5 years of collegiate coaching experience serving as an Assistant at Harvard University and The University of Massachusetts-Boston.
Coach Ierlan has established himself as the best faceoff specialist to ever set foot on a college lacrosse field. Ierlan was selected Round 1, fourth overall by the Redwoods LC in the PLL College draft. TD currently leads the PLL in faceoff win percentage and ground balls. He was also the 1st Overall Pick in the 2020 MLL Draft by New York. Ierlan is a Three-time All-American, Two-time first-team All-American, Tewaaraton Award Finalist, and Two-time conference player of year. TD transferred to Yale after two years at the University of Albany. He then transferred to Denver after a season and a half at Yale (senior season cut short due to COVID-19).

At Victor High School: Lettered four years in lacrosse. Led lacrosse team to 2015 and 2016 New York State championship and three Section V titles, 2015 and 2016 US Lacrosse All-American, 2015 and 2016 All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year, Lacrosse Magazine New York State and Northeast Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016, Three-time First Team All-Section V player, Finished with 83% face-off rate, 661 ground balls, 1,135 face-off wins, 35 goals and 15 assists in career.
Our FOF Development Day includes:
- FOF warmup that couples fundamental faceoff skills with anticipation tactics, focus work, and competitive based hand speed exercises.
- Training will consist of a heavy focus on fundamental efficiency of clamping the ball, refining technical aspects of the faceoff following our clamp, advanced moves/strategies at the X, counter moves, proper footwork/body positioning, and discussions on wing play.
- Drilling will be competition based and take place in small groups (sorted by age and ability).
- Live repetition in the form of pre-tournament seeding signature and a double elimination competition. We will be filming the players during their live competition reps. Players will be able to view both instruction from the session and their live repetition on our youtube channel. Youtube.com/FaceoffFactory
FOF All-Access: The goal of All-Access is offer students a more in depth learning experience. We strive to challenge students to master core fundamentals, advanced moves and techniques, tie-up strategy, and situational IQ. All-Access will take place 1 hour after the Development Day with Coaches Nardella and Ierlan. All-Access will be limited to 20 players and will feature small competition-based drills, immediate film analysis, and live repetition with our staff.
