Dear Faceoff Factory New England,

In an effort to continue to raise the bar and give ourselves a benchmark, we would like to present the Faceoff Factory New England Showdown. Our mission is to provide the highest level combination between expertise and competition. Through gathering New Englands top talent we hope to provide a high-pressure and competitive environment.

This event is application based and will be handing picked by our coaching staff.

       The NE Showdown will consist of:

  • Competition Mindset/Introduction
  • Brief Warm-up
  • Solo seeding (live)
  • Situational Group Work (live)
  • FOF Signature Triple Elimination Tournament
  • Winners will win a new STX Duel Reflex

Face-off training will be led by Coach Joe Nardella (MA/NH), Coach Noah Rak (CT/RI) and Coach Connor Russell (NY).

Joe Nardella is the current Faceoff Specialist for the PLL Whipsnakes and Defender for the New England Blackwolves. Joe has established himself as the top Faceoff Athlete in the world. Nardella is a 2X PLL Champion and lead all Faceoff Athletes in every category at the Faceoff Stripe in the 2020 PLL Championship Series. Joe finished with an outstanding 74% at the X, this was 10% higher than the next Faceoff Athlete. In the 2019 season, Joe finished top 2 in every category and #1 in ground balls. Coach Nardella was a standout at Rutgers University where he was named an All-American, an Academic All-American, Big Ten Specialist of the Year, 3x All Conference, and ranked top 5 in the nation in FO win % 3 years in a row. Coach Nardella is also 2X MLL All-Star and Team USA Lacrosse member. Lastly, Joe notched 5 years of collegiate coaching experience serving as an Assistant at Harvard University and The University of Massachusetts-Boston.

Coach Noah Rak. Coach Rak was the Hounds' 30th overall pick in the 2018 MLL Collegiate Draft. A product of UMass-Amherst, Coach Rak ranked second in the CAA and 15th in the nation with a 59.3 face off win percentage. His 506 career wins and 278 ground balls are a UMass record. He was also named NEILA All-Region First Team and All-CAA First Team. In his first professional season, Coach Rak took a total of 170 faceoffs while starting several games and accumulating 31 career ground balls. Coach Rak currently serves as the Connecticut Hammerheads Faceoff Specialist. In the 2020 MLL Shortened season, Rak finished with an outstanding 58.6% while notching 2 goals and picking up 18 ground balls. Noah is also a current Assistant Coach with the UMass-Amherst Minutemen.

Coach Connor Russell. Coach Russell was a 4 Year Letterman with the University of Albany Great Danes (2013-2017). During his collegiate career Russell was named a 3x America East Champion and 4x NCAA Tournament Participant. In 2016 Russell played in seven games, going 9-for-29 on faceoffs with four ground balls. Won four faceoffs out of 10 in road victory at UMass (3/8). 3-for-6 on faceoffs with a ground ball in 12-8 win vs. Binghamton (4/16). 2015: Won 52.8% (102-193) of faceoffs in first eight games of the year, grabbing 57 ground balls. Won 14-26 faceoffs (53.8%) with six ground balls in season-opening victory at Drexel (2/21). Career-high 14 ground balls, a caused turnover, an assist and 16-26 on faceoffs (61.5%) in road win over Canisius (3/17). Won 24 of 42 faceoffs (57.1%) with 13 ground balls in win at Harvard (3/25). Won all five faceoff attempts in last game played vs. UMass Lowell (3/28). 2014: Primary faceoff specialist for UAlbany, playing in 15 games with eight starts. Took 282 faceoffs, winning 131 and grabbing 68 ground balls. Four 10-ground balls games, including vs. Vermont (3/29), winning 18 of 28 faceoffs, and at Hartford (4/6), going 16-28 on faceoffs. High School: Four-year varsity letterwinner in lacrosse, football and hockey at Penfield HS. 2012 High School All-American. All-county honors all four seasons. All-Greater Rochester honors in 2011 and 2012. Led Penfield to the Section V Class A championship in 2013. Team captain in lacrosse as a  senior, captaining hockey team as a junior and senior. 70% faceoff success rate and 140 ground balls as a senior. Finishing career with a 70% faceoff success rate, 620 ground balls and 30 goals. Coaching Experience: Coaching Staff member University at Albany. Coaching Staff member SUNY Geneseo.   • No Spectators.
  • Please wear a mask. Even while training, we want to protect you and the coaches.
  • All players must bring their own water bottle to fill. No sharing drinks.
  • Coaches will practice social distancing as much as possible during on field sessions.
  • Players should refrain from touching any lacrosse ball with their hands at any time on the field. Sticks must be utilized to move or pick up the ball in all situations.

Over the course of 5 years, we have studied, tested, and developed the best possible curriculum to ensure we are preparing each and every student for success at the x. Our training has proven to establish proper fundamentals faceoff technique that will ensure immediate and prolonged success at the faceoff position.

Coaches: (Free of charge) - Our clinics are always open to coaches, free of charge. We allow coaches to take notes, record video, and ask questions during/following the event. This is a great way for coaches to get right in on the action, learn from the staff, reinforce what their players learn, and further educate themselves.
